Developvaccines@oru is an interdisciplinary platform established to develop new vaccines against a number of infectious diseases. Our teams are based on a collaboration between leading pharmaceutical, analytical, and computational companies and research groups at Örebro University (ORU), to provide in-depth insight into vaccine development.
We create new routes and means of vaccination by utilizing the unique competence of our research groups and of the participating partners.
The main goal of developvaccines@oru is to answer the following question: ¨ How can vaccination directly applied on mucosal membranes of the body be optimized for different types of prototype vaccines?¨
Therefore, DevelopVaccines@oru Syngergy Project, led by Magnus Johansson, professor of biomedicine at Örebro University in Sweden, is based on 3 subprojects and addresses important gaps in vaccination by exploring novel routes of composition, formulation, production, and vaccine evaluation. It provides profound knowledge on the biological agents and the immune responses required to develop sustainable novel vaccines.
By this approach, a vaccine construct may be tested in different expression and delivery systems and with different adjuvants depending on the results obtained throughout the Synergy.
Infectious diseases of interest: Chlamydia trachomatis, HIV, TBE, viral hemorrhagic fevers and viral hepatitis.
