At the Dew Drop Inn we are firm believers that everyone deserves a good meal and everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. We have been feeding the hungry in Thunder Bay for 41 years. The Dew Drop Inn offers a safe, welcoming environment where hungry men, women and children can access food daily from 9 am to 3:30 pm with no questions asked. The Dew Drop Inn offers a substantial take-home lunch from 9 am to 3:30 pm and a hot, hearty meal from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm that can be enjoyed in our dining room or also taken home. 2021 was a record breaking year for us with 121,072 lunches/meals served which is a dramatic increase of 45,000 meals in 3 short years. This clearly indicates the struggles of so many in our community with food insecurity. COVID has also impacted our numbers with so many experiencing interruptions with employment and income. It is about food yet it is not about food. It is about the dignity or the ability to afford the food, having the means or the knowledge and skills to prepare it or simply having a place to enjoy it. This is where we come in. The Dew Drop Inn understands how heavily our patrons rely and depend on us daily. We realize our compassion kitchen will not solve the issues of food insecurity in our community but we also realize that it is unacceptable that men, women and children go hungry until solutions are in place to eradicate poverty. Our patrons rely and depend on us and knowing that a nourishing meal awaits them daily lifts a bit of weight off of all ready burdened shoulders. Our Compassion Kitchen is community supported and we are committed to feeding the hungry in Thunder Bay for as long as our services are needed.
