CONFLICT MANAGEMENT SERVICES
TRAINING
I have experience as a trainer in conflict resolution/management and in communication skills for the prevention/mitigation of conflict. I was coteacher in Peru to help Amazonian indigenous people to negotiate successfully with trans/international corporations who had been given government permission to work in indigenous areas. I am currently teaching conflict resolution for the College of Spatial Planners in the University of Duhok: I designed the course based on my experience and to meet the specific needs of this program and culture.
MEDIATING/FACILITATING
I mediated at Alberta Justice Civil Court as a court appointed mediator for more than five years, and have mediated as an independent consultant as well, for companies and academic institutions. I have also facilitated meetings and conflicts for various clients.
COACHING
There are occasions when management (and other personnel) may not want to formally mediate but still want assistance in handling conflict, especially low level chronic conflict, or when they are facing difficult negotiations. In these cases I have worked as a conflict coach, talking with them about what they are facing and asking questions in order to analyze the situation and arrive at various options based on the specific circumstances.
