DEYI 德逸 is more than a design studio—it is a pioneer for a new era of creation, where ancient wisdom meets future possibilities. Rooted in the profound teachings of Chinese ancestral wisdom, DEYI is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of indigenous crafts and knowledge. Through ethical design, contemporary art, and consciously curated cultural immersions, the studio paves the way for a more mindful and connected world. With deep reverence for Nature, DEYI collaborates with Dong indigenous female artisans from Guizhou Province, Southwest China, to breathe new life into their time-honored craftsmanship. Together, they honor the past while shaping a sustainable future, empowering communities and preserving cultural legacies that are at risk of being forgotten. Founded in 2019 by three inspiring changemakers — Pauline Ferrières, a French creative entrepreneur, Adriana Cagigas, a Spanish textile researcher and designer, and Zhang Xing, a Chinese interior designer — DEYI is a movement, a philosophy that transcends borders and connects humanity through art, crafts and shared values. It is a force for cultural exchange, fostering dialogue between China and the world, and nurturing global communities to reconnect with ancestral knowledge and Mother Earth’s wisdom. DEYI’s art residency programs invite creatives to explore new ways of merging tradition with innovation, forging pathways for a future where design is driven by purpose and respect. In addition to their slow fashion and textile collections, crafted by over thirty talented Dong artisans from their cooperative, DEYI also curates rare teas, tea wares, and incenses—precious gifts from their community of artisans, artists, and masters across China.
