DFU Solutions Ltd is developing phage-based solutions for diabetic foot ulcer infections. Foot ulcers are a common complication of diabetes, and with treatment failure -increasing with antibiotic resistance- these ulcers can lead to amputation, which carries a 5-year death rate around 75%. This is worse than most malignancies. Our solution is a gel-based phage delivery system that will be safe, effective and convenient. Phages are viruses that infect and kill bacteria. They are extremely safe to humans and are part of the solution to the looming antibiotic resistance crisis.
