We are the first indigenous department of geography in Nigeria. Our research are globally recognised. The Department name changed in 2023 from Geography to Geography and Environmental Sustainability. We are now the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability. The Department of Geography at the University of Nigeria has evolved over the years, reflecting the changing dynamics of Nigerian society and the world. We are, therefore, changing our name from the Department of Geography to the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability. This change is vital following modifications to the curriculum to reposition the Department to focus more on environmental sustainability.
