Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF Ukraine) is an independent public agency that protects depositors’ rights and contributes to the financial stability through deposit insurance and bank resolution. DGF Ukraine plays a key role in strengthening institutional trust and safeguarding the financial sector in Ukraine.
Policy objective of the DGF Ukraine is to ensure operations of the Household Deposit Guarantee Scheme, insolvent bank resolution and liquidation of banks
DGF Ukraine was founded in 1998, and now plays a key role in strengthening institutional trust and safeguarding the financial sector in Ukraine.
Due to the Law of Ukraine on the Household Deposit Guarantee Scheme, all banks licensed by the National Bank of Ukraine are members of the DGF Ukraine.
The DGF Ukraine guarantees deposits payout to individuals and sole traders in case of a bank failure. It covers current/card, saving deposit accounts in national and foreign currencies.
Since its establishment, the DGF Ukraine has implemented resolution plans and liquidation procedures for more than 100 banks and protected the interests of millions of depositors, ensuring timely and transparent payout of guaranteed compensation. The DGF Ukraine functions also include bank assets disposal, creditors’ claims settlement, and promotion of the financial literacy among the public.
The DGF Ukraine cooperates with international institutions. It is a member of the European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI) and the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI).
