DiaBuddies

DiaBuddies is an organization that provides peer-based support to people in the San Diego area living with diabetes. We run a Mentor Program and host Events for teens and young adults with diabetes. The DiaBuddies Mentor Program is for both type I and II diabetics of all ages. It matches up clients with a DiaBuddy that can provide personal support to help adjust to a new diagnosis, address ongoing issues with diabetes, and offer understanding and motivation towards a more successful life with diabetes. The DiaBuddy mentors work closely with a Clinical Psychologist specializing in diabetes and depression from the Behavioral Diabetes Institute. The DiaBuddies Events provide an opportunity for young diabetics to meet others with a similar lifestyle, get active, make new friends, have fun, and build a support network. Our recent events included Laser Tag, a Beach BBQ, a Padres game, a Holiday Party, and Rock Climbing. This is entirely a volunteer based organization and none of our employees are paid.
