DICON Research and Development Centre

DICON R & D Centre was established in 1977 and located in the Ordnance Factories Complex before moving to its present site in 1990. It was upgraded in 1994 to the status of a Directorate and designated Centre; thus its present designation - DICON R & D Centre. The primary objective of DICON R & D Centre is to conduct research, design and development of defence equipment and hardware for the Nigerian Armed Forces. The ancillary objectives of the Centre include modifying existing defence equipment to make them more suitable to local conditions as well as developing materials and processes which would enhance the primary mandate of DICON. The Centre also has the mandate to utilise excess capacity to aid local industries. The brief will bring to fore the capacity, capability, achievements, and challenges of the Centre as well as proffer solutions.
