We are DIE GÜTERBAHNEN. Our members include over 100 private, regional and international companies with a connection to rail freight transport. With passion and innovative strength, they ensure every day on and off the rails that customers are convinced to shift to climate-friendly freight rail. The sponsor of GÜTERBAHNEN is the Netzwerk Europäischer Eisenbahnen (NEE) e. V. (Network of European Railways). The aim of the GÜTERBAHNEN is to transport more goods by rail and thus make its contribution to meeting the climate protection targets for freight transport. We show solidarity with the political plan to increase the market share of rail freight to 25 percent by 2030, which all democratic parties support. We are convinced that climate-friendly rail is the mode of freight transport of the future. That is why we are committed to fair competition on the railways and also between rail and road. With the right political course set and the flexible services of strong companies, we can achieve the 25 percent target - and even more! Unlike in long-distance passenger transport, Deutsche Bahn is not a quasi-monopolist in rail freight transport. Almost 60 percent of rail freight is transported by companies outside the DB Group. Most of these companies are organized with us. As the market leader, DIE GÜTERBAHNEN is system-relevant and can speak for the entire industry with a catchy name.
