About Digital Salt Chamber
The Digital Salt Chamber is the world's first climate-friendly long-term storage facility for digital data. It is being created in the mountains of the Salzkammergut and from 2024 it should enable people, institutions, companies and the public sector to store data for 100 years plus. The underlying technology are special optical data carriers (discs) with a long-term stable mineral storage layer. This ensures that data such as images, texts, programs, videos, 3D print files can be stored reliably and unchangeably. On the other hand, it explains why no energy is consumed in picking up "the digital data set in stone". We refer to digital data saved in the salt chamber as salt grains with a unique salt ID. Salt grains have some special properties: They could be located, are clearly unchangeable, referable, can be provided with very specific permissions, etc.
