1971, New York City: guitarist and electrical engineer, Larry DiMarzio, discovered a way to recreate the standard-issue sound of stock pickups. He achieved this by replacing the existing pickup with a revolutionary, direct-replacement of his own design. One year later, DiMarzio Musical Instrument Pickups, Inc. –soon to become DiMarzio Inc. was born!
DiMarzio Inc. quickly became a leader in the pickup replacement and guitar electronics industry. Over 45 years later, DiMarzio, Inc. is still best known for their Direct-Replacement Pickups.
