DIMOFAC

In an era of mass-customisation, DIMOFAC is an initiative aiming at making manufacturers’ production lines more responsive to a multiform demand. The project, supported by the European Commission, will be taking advantages of emerging manufacturing technologies to test and disseminate modular production methods that will help European factories to rapidly reconfigure their assembly lines and thus be more productive. Responsiveness will be reached thanks to the integration of Plug-and-Produce* modules in a Closed-Loop Lifecycle Management System** that will allow production adaptation, optimisation and improvement, in a fast and flexible manner. * “Plug-and-Produce” refers to the factory capacity to add on software or hardware as needed and in a flexible way to improve manufacturing quality or output. Industrial production processes which are typically more rigid and require costly expertise to adjust even the smallest parameter. ** A Closed-Loop Management System is a management system that keeps on improving its processes thanks to continuous feedback from all business units (and not only sales).
