Dindarò, a contraction of the Roman dialect, “dindarolo”, which means “piggybank”, is the first smartphone app that allows you to transform small coins into large sums of digital money. To use dindarò, you do not need a bank account or a credit card, but you must be at least 18 years old and own a smartphone. With every cash payment, users can ask to receive the change digitally, instead of physically, by simply showing their smartphone to the shopkeeper and having the change uploaded to their digital wallet. Dindarò combats mystery spending, a phenomenon that occurs because of all the spare change we have. Large amounts of money, found in corners of the house or the car, are usually given as tips or are wasted in compulsive spending, all just to free up space in our pockets from annoying change. Dindarò’s mission is to digitize cash, while helping people save money and spend their money consciously. There are no more problems for retailers, as they will have the option to provide physical coins from the register or receive digital payments, thus, eliminating those hateful commissions.
