Our History In 1992, a small group of German investors bought the Tamarindo DIRIA beach hotel, which at the time had only 70 rooms. From the beginning, Wolfgang Gollas, a successful entrepreneur in the fashion industry, was the promoter and leader of the activities that took place around the hotel. The hotel was expanded to its current size of 242 rooms; the shopping center with 20 stores, 6 restaurants, a casino and a conference center, all together representing the current DIRIA Boulevard. In the mid-1990s, more land was purchased in and around Tamarindo, with the goal of further developing Tamarindo as a tourist destination. Also the Tamarindo Airport was built. All these activities were brought together under the name of the “DIRIA Group”. Currently, the DIRIA Group consists of two main branches: • Hospitality: “Tamarindo DIRIA Beach Resort” and “Jardín del Eden Boutique Hotel” • Real Estate Thanks to its large plots of land and its successful development of residential projects with the best location and quality The DIRIA Group has become the number one developer in the Tamarindo area, with numerous projects that were already completed and many more that are currently in planning (see website of “DIRIA Real Estate”). As protagonists of the development of the most famous beach resort in Costa Rica, we aspire to keep the principles of sustainability and compatibility with the environment as the main focus of our current and future activities.
