Our planners and designers use cutting-edge techniques to take transportation projects from conceptual planning and alternatives analysis to environmental approvals and funding feasibility, design and construction, testing, and operations and management, completing a full life cycle of project development. This involves application of state-of-the-art expertise in performance measures, operational simulation, travel demand forecast models, traffic control devices, traffic signal systems, transportation communication technologies, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
Advanced ITS and Communications Capabilities. DKS is a national leader in the planning and implementation of ITS. Our staff members have developed some of the first ITS deployment plans, fully deployed active traffic management systems, designed traffic management centers, and have led the way in developing successful transit signal priority systems and ITS architectures in the United States.
Specialized Team of Experts. DKS professionals work with clients in the private and public sectors and at the local, regional, state, and federal levels. Virtually all of our technical staff members are registered professional engineers, professional traffic operations engineers, professional transportation planners, or certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners or other transportation services. Approximately two-thirds hold advanced degrees.
