Development Lotteries Board

Development Lotteries has been enriching the lives of the people of Sri Lanka since January 19, 1983.From the inception DLB has made a tremendous contribution to the Sri Lankan nation through millions of Rupees as prizes and millions as profit to the President’s Fund. This institution was established with the investment of Rs.2.2 million each by President’s Fund and Mahapola Trust Fund with intension to strengthen the financial basis of the President's Fund. Therefore DLB still remains as the only public institution, which donates the dividends to President's Fund. At the commencement DLB was named as Development Lotteries Center and then it was transformed to Development Lotteries Trust in 1993. Later, in 12th August 1997 it was again transformed to Development Lotteries Board by Development Lotteries Act No 20 of 1997. The President’s fund contributes to alleviate poverty to the advancement of knowledge and education, promote religion and connected rites, make awards to persons who have served the nation and provide relief to persons in instances of life threatening or serious health conditions. DLB is the most innovative and trend setting Lottery Organization in Sri Lanka. From the inception of the Development Lottery, it has used state-of-the-art technology for printing of Lottery tickets and all prize payments to the general public. Further, as a corporate citizen, DLB is operating lotteries with honesty, integrity and responsibility in promotion, management and administration of lotteries in Sri Lanka.
