Every California ID includes a hidden fingerprint — the Document Discriminator (DD) number. It's a cryptic string that encodes where the ID was issued and when. It changes every time the license is re-issued, making it the most tamper-proof data available. It's one thing fraudsters usually can’t fake correctly. Most systems ignore it.
