DNFI - Discover Natural Fibres Initiative

The General Assembly of the United Nations declared 2009 to be the International Year of Natural Fibres (IYNF) in recognition of the benefits of natural fibre industries to the world economy, the environment, consumers and to producers around the world. At the conclusion of the IYNF, representatives of 15 natural fibre organizations formed the DNFI to continue this work. DNFI is a member of the Make the Label Count initiative, a coalition of natural fibre and environmental organisations working to ensure that sustainability claims for textile products in the EU are technically sound. DNFI also has observer status in the FAO Intergovernmental Group on Hard Fibres and the IGG on Jute, Kenaf and Allied Fibres.
