Dock to Door Coalition

Recent international conflicts, natural disasters, and COVID-19 have exposed fragility in our nation’s supply chain. In conjunction with growing demand, disjointed logistics, worker shortages, and congested roads and ports, these factors threaten our environment, economic prosperity, social equity, human health, and national security. Thus, a bold, comprehensive program is urgently needed to address the “weak links” and improve all aspects of the supply chain to efficiently move goods across all delivery points. Through the Dock to Door (D2D) Coalition, led by Virginia Tech, organizations have an opportunity to play a direct part in the revitalization of our regional economy through the accelerated deployment of a sustainable and resilient supply chain model. Scaled up, the Coalition efforts will have transformative regional impacts while also improving equity, national security, and prosperity. Coalition activities will advance the next generation of transportation infrastructure and advanced vehicles, which can lead to improvements in transportation safety and equity and reduce carbon emissions as we move toward a brighter future of freight transport.
