Connecting the Acquisition Workforce Together, as part of the DoD team, the Defense Acquisition University's Office of Acquisition Human Capital Initiatives (HCI) provides strategic support to the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and other DoD partners to reach their highest level of success - as they recruit, develop and prepare the nation's top talent to be DoD's 21st Century world-class Defense Acquisition Workforce (AWF). Comprised of over 153,000 civilian and 15,000 military professionals, the AWF is a critical team within DoD, partnering with industry, to build and deliver the most sophisticated military capabilities in the world - ships, aircraft, satellites, cyber security and support services - to our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines.
