DEGREE OF FREEDOM is an international, architecture oriented civil and structural engineering practice based in Oslo, Valencia, Athens and Trondheim.
We enjoy working with innovative architects who challenge gravity and the engineer's creativity. For this reason, we develop optimized structural systems which are achieved by a close interaction between the creative design process and the most advanced analysis techniques. Our structural solutions employ traditional materials like steel, reinforced concrete and wood as well as less conventional materials such as glass, membranes and modern composites.
We have a flexible organisation that allows us to easily adapt to new tasks and projects, also by collaborating alongside other specialists and engineers if necessary. The company has been granted Norwegian Central Approval class 3 for structural engineering and class 2 for geotechnical engineering, and can therefore be the responsible design engineer of almost any sub and superstructure in Norway. We also have Central Approval for carrying out independent checks of 3rd party designers. All of our engineers are chartered members of various international institutions of engineering in Spain, Italy, and the UK (ICE, IStructE).
Our ambition is to develop projects, where technical perfection and aesthetic quality are combined with economically viable solutions.
