Dokutela was bootstrapped after winning the MIT Covid -19 Hackathon. We are an MIT COVID Medical Hackathon created team, which has a mix of industry experts and subject matter experts, from the US, India, the EU and multiple African countries. Our vision is to create an Africa-wide healthcare platform reducing patient risk, mortality and creating both a COVID and post COVID capability. Our initial goal is setting up a questionnaire and ePrescription based platform. We intend to further extend this to other emerging markets (Latin America, EMEA, etc.).
DOKUTELA triages patients (accurately and with reliability) with chronic illnesses using a USSD model in which a patient answers a questionnaire similar to the one used by a doctor and depending on his responses which are relayed to our server to match with the machine learning data, we notify him whether his medication is sufficient for the disease or a change in dosage/medicine is needed. This helps them access health care facilities while maintaining social distancing norms.
