Since 1985, Douglas Development Corporation has garnered redevelopment successes in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland. The company has earned a reputation for revitalizing underdeveloped, emerging areas. Founder and President Douglas Jemal established the company in 1985 as a private family-owned company and it has since grown into a fully integrated real estate developer with more than 100 employees. Between 1990-2017 the company expanded its portfolio from less than 250,000 sf to over 10 million sf expanding from 15 properties to over 250. Its specialty is restoring and preserving mixed-use buildings with the most well-known projects located in the East End of Washington serving as catalysts for the redevelopment of the entire area. The current portfolio is over 10 million sf and there is more than 5 million sf in the development pipeline. Douglas Development one of the most dominant and successful real estate developers in the Washington area.
