Feeling the need to contribute to the upliftment of the general people in the field of primary health care and increase awareness about preventive medicine, “Docs on Wheels” (DOW) was initially founded on Jan 1, 2012, by four friends. DOW initially focused on public health promotions by conducting "Health and Sanitation Awareness Campaign (HASAC)" in various schools all over Nepal followed by installing Telemedicine units in the remotest parts including LoManthan in Mustang.
DOW organically grew over the years and was reorganized and officially registered in Nepal as a non-profit on February 24, 2024. The focus is now in 4 core areas:
1. Public health promotion and delivery management
2. Clinical Research
3. Health Volunteering in Nepal and Observership in USA
4. Fundraising
