Our Group is known as the ‘Data Protection Finance Group’ (“DPFG”) and was founded in September 1992.
The group was created to achieve 4 key objectives:
1. To create a communication network of lawyers and privacy professionals across the Financial Services Sector for the exchange of non-competitive ideas and information common to the Financial Services Sector.
2. To consider the impact on the UK Financial Services Sector of changes or proposed changes to UK data protection and related legislation, regulations, regulatory guidance and codes of practice.
3. To consider the practical application of data protection and related legislation to technological developments and developments in market practice in the Financial Services Sector.
4. To raise concerns and ideas with the ICO and other relevant regulators such as, the FCA and PRA, other local data protection authorities as well as lobby groups from time to time.
