Dr. David Homer has worked in law enforcement for over 10 years. He has worked in all areas of law enforcement ranging from corrections to sworn personnel. Dr. Homer started his law enforcement career at the Department of Corrections in South Carolina. During his time at the agency, he worked in all capacities and was assigned to the Special Management Unit or SMU. SMU housed high-profile inmates such as Dylann Roof and Michael Slager, federal inmates, and the most violent offenders. Dr. David Homer eventually transitioned into working at the Charleston Police Department where he worked both in law enforcement and a civilian capacity. He has witnessed many of his brothers and sisters in blue suffer from stress-related illnesses. Dr. Homer made it his mission to determine what stresses law enforcement go through and how these stresses affect the lives of their families and the lives of the community.
