A pioneer laparoscopy surgeon who trained thousands of surgeons across India. As a professor of surgery at Grant Medical College, Mumbai he trained postgraduates in safe laparoscopy for 16 years.
He started bariatric surgeries in 2001 and founded Obesity Surgery Society of India, affiliated with IFSO. From 2011, he started doing exclusively bariatric surgeries and published in various peer reviewed journals.
He was President of India Association of Gastro-intestinal Endo Surgeons(IAGES) in 2020 and is governing council member of ELSA.
He is Director of Bariatric Program at Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai. Founder Editor of Journal of Bariatric Surgery, Associate Editor of Journal of Minimal Access Surgery, member of specialist board of National Board of Examinations and member of bariatric and ethics committee of SAGES. He is also Scientific Chairman of World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery to be held in 2024 at Kolkata.
