HoA DRIVE Somalia

Launched in August 2022, the De-risking, Inclusion and Value Enhancement of Pastoral Economies in the Horn of Africa (DRIVE) project is a collaborative effort involving the Republic of Djibouti, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Republic of Kenya, and the Federal Government of Somalia. The goal of DRIVE is to help the Horn of Africa region adapt to the impacts of climate change by providing access to financial services, promoting the commercialization of livestock production in pastoralist communities, and ensuring the inclusion of women, marginalized groups, and vulnerable populations. The project, funded by the World Bank and partners, is structured around two inter-linked components: - Component 1 - Package of Financial Service for Climate Resilience - Component 2 - Livestock Value Chains and Trade Facilitation In Somalia, the project is implemented under the stewardship of the Ministry of Finance and executed by relevant line ministries: the Ministry of Livestock, Forestry and Range, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Central Bank of Somalia, the Somali Bureau of Standards, and Zep-Re.
