The Drone Ranger Resources team are engaged in research to advance decision-making capabilities for our Northern California environment using Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in conservation practices. We continue build regional capacity for communities and project partners to learn and implement these valuable technologies and scientific approaches in managing our lands.

This research team is addressing the need to improve wildfire behavior predictions and standardizing accurate cost-benefit analyses through UAS-based tools and workflows. By fusing existing research and adapting best practices, comprehensive UAS-based tools are being developed to support wildfire mitigation and forest health resilience, with a keen focus on environmental data collection, processing, and interpretation for actionable insights in project planning and implementation.
