Droplet IV is a need-driven MedTech start-up founded by doctors and engineers.
Droplet started in the BioMedical Design Novo Nordisk Foundation Fellowship Programme and is currently in the Venture House incubator program at BioInnovation Institute.
Problem: ≈20% of intravenous (IV) medicine is trapped as residual medicine in IV lines and never reaches the patient leading to significant underdosing.
To mitigate this patient risk, nurses must spend an avg. of 2-3 minutes to flush each IV line manually. This is unrealistic and not scalable with the growing global nurse shortage.
Solution: Droplet ensures that patients receive the full prescribed dose of medicine every time by automatically flushing IV lines.
Market: There are globally more than 6B IV infusions annually and no true automatic flushing products are on the market today.
