At the Data Science Hub, we believe in the power of data and its revolutionary role in shaping future decisions and interdisciplinary solutions. Data science is universal, and so is our Hub! Building on our strengths in data science and operations research, we provide a platform that fosters collaborations in interdisciplinary, data-driven research; whether between science and non-science scholars, between local and international data scientists, or between academia and industry. Our ultimate goal is to challenge pressing societal questions and lead the way of data-driven innovation while emphasizing the responsible use of data and leveraging cross-practice perspectives. Through research, we venture to help students and enthusiasts explore the field of data science, receive necessary exposure and draw meaningful connections to virtually any domain they are passionate about. We strive to turn members of our Hub into Data Science prodigies who can move on to revolutionize the future with cutting-edge, community-centered innovation. About the Founder: Dr. Nouri Sakr is an Assistant Professor of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the American University in Cairo . She is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Data Science undergraduate program at AUC. Dr. Sakr received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research focusing on Data Science and Optimization. As an undergrad, she double majored in Computer Science and Actuarial Science at AUC, then earned a Masters of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo with a focus on FinTech. Her research focuses on leveraging connections between data science and combinatorial optimization to design data-driven algorithms that efficiently tackle real-world challenges with social impact. In 2020, she founded the DataScience Hub which applies data science techniques in interdisciplinary areas, such as in education, healthcare, fintech, system scheduling and economics.
