The Department of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (DTERM) is one of the Research Center of Excellence in Faculty of Medicine, National University of Malaysia (UKM). DTERM has been a pioneering entity in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine in Malaysia. It has led the drive to cultivate creativity and skills in fundamental and translational clinical science from its modest beginning in 1999 as the Tissue Engineering Laboratory to this day. Beginning with our very first homegrown tissue-engineered product, MyDerm ® a skin substitute for burn and trauma patients. We have embarked on a range of initiatives aimed at delivering therapeutic solutions through tissue engineering technology. Many other products incepted in DTERM from our close collaboration with clinician, are in the translational process to soon reach clinical practice. We are delighted to invite collaborators to exchange expertise and resources with our researchers in order to translate this promising area from bench to bed to benefit patients with incurable diseases. Besides this, we are also embarking on aesthetics and wellness through tissue engineering and regenerative medicine initiatives, towards a healthier and happier lifestyle.
