Dublin City Libraries company information, Employees & Contact Information

Dublin City Libraries provides the public with more than just books – it’s a community resource with something for everyone. Across our 21 branch libraries, as well as our mobile Library in the Community, our diverse collection of books, CD’s, DVD’s, games and more spans over 950 thousand physical items – with 10.4 million books available to request from across the island of Ireland and dozens of eResources accessible online with your library membership. In 2010, Dublin successfully bid to become the fourth UNESCO City of Literature, in recognition of its longstanding literary tradition and vibrant contemporary scene. Policy and programming for the Dublin UNESCO City of literature designation is co-ordinated by Dublin City Libraries who will celebrate 20 years of the popular One Dublin One Book programme and 30 years of the Dublin Literary Award in 2025. Dublin City Libraries are also jointly responsible for the Dublin Festival of History, which aims to preserve, share and promote the history and heritage of Dublin and Ireland and to encourage and facilitate historical research. The Dublin City Archive is also part of Dublin City Libraries, located within our headquarters on Pearse Street. Collections can be accessed by appointment only and may not be removed from the Reading Room.
