About Dyslexia Cameroon

About Dyslexia Cameroon Raising Awareness, Empowering Minds, Shifting the narrative Dyslexia Cameroon was founded in 2024 to establish a national voice, standard, and platform for advocating for all Cameroonian children and citizens with dyslexia. By partnering with professional organizations, experts, and advocates, we strive to drive change by engaging and educating the public, and by advocating for legislation specifically recognizing and addressing dyslexia. Our belief system is strongly build and grounded on the proven multi – sensory approach called Orton – Gillingham “structured Literacy approach”. It is a, multisensory approach to learning and reading. Orton Gillingham allows students to break down how and why letters and words sound the way they do. Using multiple senses, children can better understand the rule of English Language. This is considered the most effective way to teach children as it helps each individual child learns best. We are committed to championing , showcasing and covering all dyslexia awareness activities carried out on Cameroonian soil— by Dyslexia Cameroon and our partner organizations—across all our platforms. Our goal is to build a national movement that empowers individuals with dyslexia and other related learning disabilities. Our Mission Our mission is to raise awareness, offer support, and promote inclusivity for people with dyslexia in Cameroon. We recognize that many other learning disabilities, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, and Auditory Processing Disorder, are often experienced by students with dyslexia that is why we would also be creating awareness on them . As part of our advocacy, we also strive to raise awareness for these conditions, ensuring that every child, regardless of their learning differences, receives the support they need to succeed through equitable access to education.
