About Us: Founded in 2012, EAHS provides professionally and culturally competent mental health rehabilitative services and other supportive services to refugees and immigrants who suffer impairment from symptoms caused by trauma and mental illness. EAHS services respect the culture, religion, and language of clients. Certified by MN Department of Human Services as an Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) provider, we currently work with clients in Ramsey, Dakota, Hennepin, Anoka and Washington counties. Mission: East African Healing Services (EAHS) helps adult East African immigrants recover from often violent, troubled pasts. We provide behavioral and mental health services needed to transition successfully to independence and self-sufficiency in the Twin Cities metro with respect and dignity. Vision: East African Healing Services vision to increase hope, self-determination and recovery for immigrants with violent and trouble past. Current Services: Basic living and social skills. These services instruct, assist and support a recipient in skill areas essential for everyday, independent living. Examples of skill areas include: • Interpersonal communications • Community resource utilization and integration • Crisis assistance • Relapse prevention • Budgeting, shopping and healthy lifestyle skills and practices • Cooking and nutrition • Transportation • Medication monitoring • Mental illness symptom management • Household management • Employment-related skills Transitioning to community living: Community intervention is a series of strategies provided on behalf of a recipient to: •Alleviate or reduce a recipient’s barriers to community integration or independent living •Minimize the risk of hospitalization or placement in a more restrictive living setting Medication education service educates a recipient about: •Mental illness and symptoms •The role and effects of medications in treating symptoms of mental illness •The side effects of medications For Inquiries and additional question, please visit us at www.eahsmn.org or email us info@eahsmn.org
