East Coast Tags is an LGBTQ+ retail clothing brand. We provide subtle Pride gear with American Traditionally Tattoo style prints. There are a lot of people within the LGBTQIA+ community who simply don't like wearing rainbows (or other lgbtqia+ associated flag colors), Founder, Michelle Frost is certainly one of those people. Therefore, the designs that we create provide an alternative to the bright and vibrant colors queer related. Even MORE importantly, we've also found that people outside of the community will see the artwork, enjoy it, but not understand the meaning behind and will ask the wearer to explain. Thereby opening the door for a conversation that otherwise may not have taken place. Some people get "turned off" by seeing an lgbtqia+ flag, they normally wouldn't have spoken to the person wearing those colors. But by leading with artwork instead of meaning first, there's an opportunity to avoid walls coming up and for a bonding moment . A gab is bridged. It's also easier for people to wear an expressive piece of clothing without feeling like a target or in a type of danger. We've found that our "mostly" color-less pride collection goes beyond simply combatting rainbow washing during the month of June, but has a more important mission. East Coast Tags inspiring questions and promoting meaningful conversations in a safe way.
