About NYU Ed Bradley Journalism Fellowship
In the summer of 2025, the New York University Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, in partnership with the Dow Jones News Fund, will bring together an elite cohort of college journalists to New York University for a one-week workshop of intensive training and mentorship. The mission of the Ed Bradley Fellowship is to identify and rectify the under-representation of African-American males in newsrooms across the country. There is value in people from all backgrounds being attuned to this lack of representation and the disparities that may result from it. The support of diverse allies is critical to effecting meaningful change toward equitable representation in newsrooms. We are thankful to the outstanding journalists who made time to meet and speak with our inaugural cohort of Black Journalism Workshop students during the summer of 2024, including top reporters and newsroom executives from The New York Times, CNN, Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal, ESPN, Slate, CBS New York, ProPublica, MSNBC, and NBC News. The Ed Bradley Fellowship welcomes all U.S. college students who appreciate the mission to increase the representation of Black males in journalism to apply, regardless of their identity or background. We particularly encourage Black males with aligned interests and career goals to apply. Students must have completed their freshman year by the summer 2025. Twenty students will be chosen from a highly competitive pool of applicants to attend this workshop in June 2025. To ensure the economic diversity of workshop participants – program instruction, housing, meals, and transportation costs to attend the workshop are provided for every participating student.
