About ECEG - European Chemical Employers Group

The European Chemical Employers Group (ECEG) represents the chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber and plastics industries in Europe. As a Brussels-based social affairs organisation, it is a recognised social partner and a consultative body for the European Commission, Parliament and other stakeholders. Through our members, we represent approximately 3.4 million direct employees in more than 88.000 enterprises. The sector is one of the biggest and most dynamic industries in the EU. ECEG groups national employers’ federations of the chemical sector from 15 countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. ECEG acts on behalf of the chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber and plastics industries (code 20, 21 and 22), based on the statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community (NACE). The representativeness was confirmed by the Eurofound representativeness study published in November 2014. The scope of the Sectorial Social Dialogue Committee for the European Chemical Industry was officially enlarged in May 2015 by the European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Ms Marianne Thyssen, and European Commissioner for the Euro and Social Dialogue as well as a Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis. ECEG exchanges on a regular basis with the cross-sectoral social partner BUSINESSEUROPE and several industry associations, such as Cefic, EFPIA and ETRMA.
