The Early College High School of Emergency Medicine (EChem)

The Early College High School of Emergency Medicine (EChem) is a small career and technical education (CTE) school with an Emergency Medicine and Healthcare focus nestled in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. EChem is a New York State Pathways in Technology (NYS P-TECH) school which is built on a public-private partnership that prepares students for high-skills jobs of the future in healthcare. EChem provides: 1. A rigorous cost-free “grades 9 to 14” education focused on the knowledge and skills students need for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers; After six years, graduates will earn both a New York State Regents Diploma and an Associate Degree in Paramedicine from The Borough of Manhattan Community College 2. Workplace learning that includes ongoing mentoring by healthcare professionals, paid internships, job shadow days, coaching and mentoring, worksite visits, speakers and internships with our industry partner, Northwell Health, the largest healthcare provider in New York City 3. The commitment to be first in line for a job at Northwell Health following completion of the program. EChem is also a NYCPS Future Ready NYC school with a Pre-Nursing Pathway that includes: 1. A rigorous cost-free seven credit sequence at The Borough of Manhattan Community College. 2. Work Based Learning with Northwell Health 3. Career Connected Instruction at ECHEM culminating in a Certified Medical Assistant certification.
