EChiLiBRiST

EChiLiBRiST is a 5-year project, funded by Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Program, which aims to develop and validate a rapid test for early recognition and improved management of febrile children at risk of severe diseases. We are a consortium of 13 institutions from Europe, North America and sub-Saharan Africa with interdisciplinary profiles, including academic and research partners, as well as industrial partners and companies. The project consists of two distinct yet complementary workstreams – 1) the development of a rapid test to measure the severity biomarkers of interest, sTREM-1 and Angpt-2, at the point-of-care; and 2) Clinical trials and sub-studies in three African countries to assess the impact of introducting the test for risk stratification purposes, to enhance outcomes, guide management, and save costs. Additionally, EChiLiBRiST is fully committed to research capacity building in the African participating countries (Mozambique, Ethiopia and Gabon), which includes the training of 3 African graduates with different disciplinary backgrounds to obtain the PhD in an EChiLiBRiST-related topic.
