Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) uses video conferencing to link medical and behavioral health professionals with specialist teams for interactive continuing medical education and mentoring. In this way, providers' and clinicians' skills are enhanced to provide specialty care to patients in their own communities.
Project ECHO was developed at the University of New Mexico. ECHO empowers primary care providers in remote communities to treat complex chronic diseases with-specialist level expertise. ECHO Idaho is an educational resource for the Gem State and helps strengthen underserved and rural communities in Idaho through access to specialist knowledge, interactive mentoring and improved patient care.
