ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) is a form of cardiopulmonary life support, where blood is drained from the vascular system, circulated outside the body, and enters a circuit of tubing where carbon dioxide is removed and oxygen is added. It is then reinfused into the body. Our vision at ECMO South Africa is to lead in transforming critical care through innovation and excellence in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) therapy. We are dedicated to advancing patient outcomes, pioneering cutting-edge technologies, and setting the standard for compassionate, lifesaving care across Africa. The ECMO Society of South Africa embodies the shared passion and unwavering commitment of a dedicated group of professionals.
