About ECO-CATCH Project
ECO-CATCH will make 10 promising technologies ready for commercial uptake to empower fishers in their efforts to minimize bycatch of juvenile fishes and Endangered, Threatened, and Protected species and to protect habitats in the North Sea and the Baltic. The project brings together a consortium of 14 partners from across the seafood value chain, including leading scientists, industry innovators, and certification bodies. We will collaborate over five years to refine and demonstrate the innovations at sea, address legal and social barriers to their adoption, and enable them to be recognized in certification assessments – rewarding trailblazer fisheries for their sustainability efforts. ECO-CATCH is coordinated by DTU Aqua and funded by the European Union (Grant 101213692) with a total grant of €8.5 million over the project’s lifespan. Further information, including our website, will be available soon.
