Eco Cause

Eco Causa is an environmental extension project conceived by students of the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA), with a clear mission and a strong sense of personal commitment: to mitigate the severe impacts caused by electronic waste in the region. This project arises from the urgent need to address contemporary environmental challenges, particularly the improper disposal of electronic waste, which poses a significant threat to both the environment and public health. The project is grounded in the belief that education and technology are the pillars that support social and environmental transformation. Through an educational approach, we aim to inform and raise awareness within the community about the importance of proper disposal and the repurposing of electronic devices. We believe that awareness is the first step towards behavioral change and, consequently, the reduction of environmental impacts. Throughout our journey, we have conducted numerous awareness campaigns, lectures, workshops, and electronic waste collection drives. However, we recognized the need for something more innovative and impactful to reach a broader and more diverse audience. It was then that the idea of creating an electronic game, initially targeted for computers, emerged. The game "Eco Race" was developed with the aim of educating and engaging young people and adolescents, our primary target audience, about the impacts of electronic waste and the importance of sustainable practices. Through an engaging and interactive narrative, players are challenged to make responsible decisions and learn about the consequences of their actions on the environment. The game not only teaches important sustainability concepts but also promotes the adoption of eco-friendly behaviors in their daily lives.
