Ecoficus is a family-owned company that was founded in 2003. Since the beginning Ecoficus has elaborated dried figs and products derived from it using figs grown in our own organic land. Shortly thereafter, in 2004 we started to produce our exclusive “Fig Bread” and in 2006 our “Fig Bombón” was created mixing chocolate and the figs of the highest quality.
Our variety of figs, called “Calabacitas” is typical from Almoharín, village located in Extremadura, Spain, which is closely linked to the Arabic culture and the Fig Tree farming. This variety has a special flavour and unique texture which allows them to be used in a wide range of gastronomic recipes obtaining an excellent combination with ingredients like cinnamon, chocolate, praline or truffle.
In 2008, the Spanish Ministry of Environment and the Biodiversity Foundation awarded us with the “Organic Nutrition and Biodiversity” prize.
Ecoficus was the first company in Extremadura to obtain the NOP Organic Certification needed to export to the U.S. Nowadays, our products are sold in more than 15 countries over the world.
