The Department of Economics seeks to contribute to questions at the frontier of economic knowledge by drawing on the regional laboratory of economic and social life in South Asia and by collaborating with academics based at global centers of excellence in economic research. The Department has 21 full-time PhD and over 15 non-PhD faculty members who are dedicated to teaching and conducting research in areas such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, development, environment, trade, and finance.
The department offers three programs at the undergraduate level: BSc Economics, BSc Economics and Political Science, and BSc Economics and Mathematics as well as a 1.5 year and a 2.5 year track MS Economics program at the graduate level.
The School of Economics at the University of East Anglia, UK and the Department of Economics at the Lahore University of Management Sciences now also offer a joint PhD program in Economics.
