EWD is a deep tech startup specialized in developing technological innovations for energy production from renewable and untapped energy sources. Its mission is to enable energy independence, eco-efficient business operations, and accelerate decarbonisation.
EWD is addressing the linkage between the production and use of energy (to satisfy human needs and run economic activities) and the resulting environmental pressure. Technologies developed by EWD include:
1) Aurora, a portable and fully autonomous vertical axis wind turbine with integrated flexible solar panels in its expandable blades. It can harness both wind and solar energy, thereby maximize clean energy output, store it, and provide energy autonomy.
2) Wave Daedalus, a wave energy converter with near-shore and on-board applications. With this solution, EWD aims to meet the growing energy needs of coastal communities and reduce ship fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions.
3) Road Energy, a novel power system that can harness the mechanical (kinetic) energy from vehicles in motion, thereby turning vehicles, a source of pollution, to an energy source and drivers into energy producers!
What makes EWD's truly innovative is not only the design of small and scalable sustainable energy technologies but also the integrated digitalization. Digitalization and the use of AI in all EWD's technologies helps collect and analyse real-time data and enables the efficient energy harnessing e.g., from short to long ocean swells (as for Wave Daedalus) and from small to heavy vehicles (as for Road Energy).
EWD technologies are capable of being interconnected, but also connected to other renewable energy sources, such as wind.
