The Eden Resilience Action Lab (ERA-Lab) is a global research center committed to empowering Africa’s next generation of researchers, thought leaders, and advocates. Our mission is to bridge research and data gaps, integrate indigenous knowledge, and build resilience to historical, current, and emerging challenges—including climate change, social, energy, and water justice, and economic inequalities—through collaboration and mentorship.
ERA-Lab works to ensure that scientific evidence informs policy and drives meaningful change. By partnering with universities, organizations, and government bodies, we conduct research that addresses global challenges through the unique lens of Africa. Our volunteers and researchers mentor young people across the continent, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to navigate complex issues and contribute to research-driven policies aimed at bridging inequalities.
In addition to our research efforts, ERA-Lab also functions as a think tank, providing expertise to organizations and governments seeking competent researchers. We help connect our volunteers and trainees with opportunities in research roles that address Africa’s most pressing issues, from energy and water justice to climate change and social development.
Founded by Excel Obumneme Amaefule, a multi-award-winning advocate for climate, environment, and social justice, ERA-Lab is dedicated to creating sustainable solutions. Excel's notable recognitions include receiving the 2023 Commonwealth Scholar Award for his leadership in driving positive change across Africa and globally.
