Educators Leadership Academy (ELA)

The Educators' Leadership Academy (ELA) is a compass for educators, offering them new direction and perspective through professional and leadership development. ELA knows that the roles of educational professionals are complex, challenging and always evolving. Our workshop-style approach takes place across extended sessions with a multidisciplinary cohort of professionals. ELA will provide registrants with new and effective concepts to implement. Alumni who have benefited from our unique programs and experts say ELA gave them renewed, fresh energy, ideas and a recentered purpose. ELA customizes each academy for the specialized needs of education professionals. Here are the following professional development programs: - Academic Leadership Fellow Academy - The Fellows Academy prepares the next generation of academic and leaders by cultivating a clearer understanding of the complexities of higher education. This involves explorations of the importance of institutional mission, culture, continuous improvement, effectiveness, budgeting and accountability. - Administrative Support Professionals Academy - A powerful one-day academy to provide administrative support professionals with tools enhance their performance and to make their contributions more meaningful. - Higher Education Department Chair Academy - The Chair Academy covers the "nuts and bolts" of chairing an academic department. Program highlights include understanding the role of the department chair, department management, curriculum, strategic planning and employee transitions. - Transformative Leadership Academy - A foundational leadership to develop the essential skills of emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, leadership theories, negotiation management and educational legal frameworks. These skills will support transformation in your organization. The Educational Administrators' Academy was established in 1998 at UCO.
